Hi Everyone for my first blog post as your new Miss Rodeo Texas (and my first blog ever!) I’d like to let you all know a little bit more about myself and then we can dive into all the wonderful adventures as the First Lady of Texas Rodeo.
I’m from the small west Texas town of Alpine, where I grew up on a ranch with two older brothers, my parents, and many critters. I don’t ever remember learning to ride a horse, it just seemed like natural progression, and the rest is history!
I began to rodeo when I was in junior high school, when I decided I needed more speed from my horse. My need for speed was met as I competed in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, and breakaway roping. I competed well on through high school and qualified for state in pole bending and goat tying.
I recently graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in Communication Studies with a Buisness emphasis and minors in Energy Technolgy Managment and Sociology. I’m a fifth generation rancher and have plans to continue in the agricultural field. I am so thankful to have been raised in this life style with the values and tradition instilled of our western way of life. It is my hope as Miss Rodeo Texas to inspire the younger generation to engage in agriculture.
Stay tuned for new blog posts from my travels to Wyoming, Colorado, and of course Texas!
