On the Road Again….

This time… to Market! The Miss Rodeo Texas Organization has an amazing Board and group of volunteers and they are already planning and preparing for next year’s pageant.   We have such an amazing committee and I know it’s going to be an amazing contest.  Lots of exciting plans (and maybe a few new changes) are in the works – so you are not going to want to miss it!!!

Miss Rodeo Texas always gives the girls the best prizes and awards and I had the honor of attending the Dallas Market with Ms Marjorie Murphy, Ms Linda Ebest and Ms Dawn Brenner to shop for some of those prizes.  It was so much fun to get away for a “girl’s weekend” and we shopped till we almost dropped!

There is so much to see and so many wonderful merchants and vendors but I really enjoyed getting to meet with some of our sponsors like Wrangler.  I was also excited to run into former Miss Rodeo Texas & Miss Rodeo America, Jennifer Smith.  She and her husband Stran have their own brand of clothing & accessories called STS Ranchwear.  Jennifer has been so sweet and helpful to me as I prepared for Miss Rodeo Texas and now Miss Rodeo America and I am very excited to see their family have continued success in and out of the Rodeo Arena.

In support of the BEEF Industry, Marjorie treated us to a fabulous steak dinner at SER.  We all enjoyed the beautiful views from the top of the building in Dallas as well as a wonderful dinner.

Back at Market the next day I had the pleasure of stopping to visit the booths of Kippy’s, West and Company and Lane Boots. Thank you guys so much for everything!  Market truly is a cowgirl’s shopping paradise and I had fun learning how to shop with 3 of Texas’ Best!

South Texas Cattle Women’s Meeting

My first STCW Meeting went off with a bang!  These wonderful ladies welcomed me with open arms and huge hearts!  I can’t imagine a more passionate group of people.  They are organized, driven and focused in their efforts to educate, inform and spread the word about western heritage and the BEEF Industry.  I am truly honored to call myself a South Texas Cattle Woman!

In the short time that I have known Mrs. Terry Chandler, the STCW President, I have learned so much from her already.  This leading lady has a true love for Texas, its small towns and the Beef Industry and it was so refreshing to listen to her stories and have an opportunity to see Texas through her eyes. This amazing group of STCW ladies has teamed up with Charlie Black to provide $4,000 worth of BEEF for the Big Springs Ranch for Children in Leakey.  I was honored to be invited to the Ranch and assist with the presentation of the check.   We were given a tour and allowed to see the beautiful property and buildings as well as meet their staff, volunteers and some of the courageous kids that call Big Springs Ranch home.  So proud to now be a part of the STCW Family!!!  This is just another great reason to support the industry and eat more BEEF!!!
