My First Week As Miss Rodeo Texas

After the conclusion of the pageant, I had a week to collect myself and my belongings before any appearances officially started. The Miss Rodeo Texas organization is SO incredibly generous for providing me with a condo in San Antonio to live in throughout my reign. I spent most of the week moving, but I am finally all settled in and love my new home away from home!

IMG_5814On the Fourth Of July weekend, I made my first official appearance as Miss Rodeo Texas at the “Slick Rock Challenge” PBR event in Rocksprings, TX. There were two performances throughout the weekend and I was honored to carry the Texas flag at the beginning of each. What better way to start the year than by presenting the flag of the state that I represent and love? During the performances, I was able to visit with fans and sign autographs. I quickly made friends with the announcer’s young daughter and she sat with me as I signed autographs, even drawing the hearts I usually put before my signature for me. 🙂

That Saturday morning, Rocksprings had their annual parade as part of the Edwards County Fourth Of July Celebration. Before the parade started, there was a rededication ceremony for the restored Edwards County Courthouse that I was invited to attend. I also got to be a part of another tradition by helping crown the new Old Settlers Queen! I loved getting to be a part of an event that was such a milestone for this small but big-hearted community. After the rededication, I was selected to judge their parade! It was a tough job since there were so many creative floats and outfits, but it was a lot of fun to watch!

IMG_5831I want to thank Grady and Sarah Douglass for inviting me to this event and for being so hospitable throughout the weekend. I can’t thank you enough for how welcoming y’all were towards me! Side note: Grady made my Miss Rodeo Austin chaps and will also be making my custom Miss Rodeo Texas chaps. Be sure to check out his leatherwork and be on the lookout for pictures of my new chaps!

I had an amazing first appearance as Miss Rodeo Texas and I am so very excited for the opportunities ahead this year!

Blessings,

Alex Ingram – Miss Rodeo Texas 2014

Introduction To Miss Rodeo Texas 2014

DS7_3071

I just wanted to start this blog by saying how extremely excited and blessed I am to even have this opportunity! It has been incredibly humbling to see how much support I have and I hope to make everyone proud throughout my reign. It means so much to me to be in this position and I can’t wait to get started on the year ahead!

I started competing in rodeo queen pageants about three years ago; a bit of a late bloomer compared to many girls that spend their childhood competing. Once I saw what these pageants were all about, I was hooked! I loved everything they stand for: values, modesty, class, and grace, while having a deep appreciation for the Western way of life that I personally hold so dear. After an amazing year serving as Miss Rodeo Austin, I went on to compete at Miss Rodeo Texas and the rest is history!

I was very fortunate to grow up in the country with my parents, two sisters, and just about every pet/farm animal imaginable! My dad was a team roper so I spent a lot of my time around horses from a young age. This upbringing instilled my strong interest and passion for agriculture that I still have to this day. As I got older though, I began to feel almost guilty for coming from a life so filled with blessings while there are many out there facing struggles. Since then, my “motto” you could say, became Genesis 12:2 – “I will bless you so you will be a blessing to others.” I think a rodeo queen’s most important job is to remember that it’s not about what this title can do for her, it’s about what she can do for others through the title.

I am so honored to be the 55th Miss Rodeo Texas and follow in the footsteps of the inspirational women that have held the title before me. Thank you to Devin Felger Sisk, Miss Rodeo Texas 2009, for always selflessly offering her photography talents! The day after the pageant ended, she came to photograph me for the Miss Rodeo Texas autograph sheets. Thank you Devin!

I truly am excited for the year ahead and what it has in store. I hope to meet each of you down the road at the rodeos this year!

Blessings always,

Jasper Lion’s Rodeo and Miss Rodeo Jasper Contest

Before competing for Miss Rodeo Texas, I was honored to have won the Miss Rodeo Jasper Title in May 2013.

It was wonderful to be able to come back this year to support this hard working Rodeo Committee and to pass on the crown to another very lucky young woman!

Ready for Grand Entry at another awesome Jasper Lion’s Rodeo!

The Jasper Rodeo is a huge community event for this beautiful East Texas Border town and they bring in the best of the best to put it on… Bennie Buetler & Son Rodeo Company and one of my favorite PRCA Announcers, Wayne Brooks.  I have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know both Bennie and Wayne during my time at Rodeo Austin and on many occasions throughout this past year, so walking into the arena and seeing them both was once again like coming home.  I was welcomed with Handshakes and Hugs and after a quick catching up we got right to work because after all the show must go on… and with Wayne and Bennie, it’s going to go on time! 🙂

IMG_0214The Miss Rodeo Jasper Contest could not take place without the hard work of  this amazing woman, Mrs. Gail Kemp.  So blessed and honored to have her as our friend and “Queen Mom”

Carrying on the tradition of signing the chaps before passing them to the new queen.  I’m so honored to have been a part of this wonderful organization and the Jasper Rodeo Family!

I was fortunate to win the Miss Rodeo Jasper title in May last year which was right before I competed for Miss Rodeo Texas, so although I did not wear the crown and banner of the Miss Rodeo Jasper organization all year long, I want them to know that they have been an instrumental part of my year and I appreciate them so very much!  I especially wanted to personally acknowledge and thank Mrs. Gail Kemp, Danielle Kemp and your family for everything you have done for me and for your support throughout my year.  I love y’all and I am so glad that I had this opportunity to get to know you better!
